Proper Maid wins Local Business Accelerators Initiative!
The Yorkshire Post today announced Proper Maid as one of the three winners of this prestigious competition backed by the CBI and the Bank of England.
Prime Minister David Cameron offered his congratulations to the winning businesses: "Entrepreneurship, creativity and ambition are essential for our economic recovery; it's brilliant so many promising young companies are benefiting from this excellent initiative, helping to boost their local economy."
Paul Ayre, Managing Partner of Leeds based law firm Gordons LLP, who sat on the regional judging panel, will mentor the company who will also receive £5,000 of free advertising with the Yorkshire Post. Mr Ayre added: "The story behind Proper Maid is one which should inspire everyone thinking of starting a new business".

Christmas Dinner Cake goes viral!
Always seeking to push the boundaries of cake baking innovation Proper Maid's Allison Whitmarsh has created a "Christmas Dinner Cake" using all the traditional ingredients of Xmas fayre minus the turkey! The cake, featured on ITV's regional news programme Calendar is currently going down a storm with customers at Weetons, Harrogate, and can be ordered directly from the Proper Maid bakery up to Christmas.

Winner at the Forward Ladies in Business Awards 2011
Allison Whitmarsh, owner of ProperMaid cakes today collected the "Manufacturing Business Woman of the Year Award" at an event held at the Centenary Pavilion in Leeds. The "Forward Ladies in Business Awards 2011" are a celebration of the success of professional women and female entrepreneurs at all stages of their careers and business development. The judging criteria recognised the successful strategic direction and growth of the business during the economic downturn, and the innovative ideas that have yielded clear commercial benefits.

ProperMaid relocation to Heritage Exchange
Multi award winning Huddersfield based ProperMaid have now relocated their operations to a purpose built 1700sqm unit at the Heritage Exchange complex in Lindley. 15/04/2011The ProperMaid brand evolved from a theoretical concept whilst Allison the sole owner of ProperMaid was still studying at university. It was this project that inspired Allison to make ProperMaid the reality it is today.
01/04/2011ENTERPRISING graduates will provide a boost to Yorkshire’s economy, thanks to a European-funded scheme led by the University of Huddersfield. The Graduate Entrepreneurship Project was created through an award of £1.3 million from the European Regional Development Fund, via the agency Yorkshire Forward. People with bright business ideas who graduated from one of Yorkshire’s universities will be able to apply for practical help and funding.
