deliciouslyorkshire award winners announced
Last night the nineteen winners of the deliciouslyorkshire awards 2010 were announced, featuring some of the most successful and original companies from around the region, following a record breaking 450 entries earlier this year.
The winners were announced at an exclusive ceremony held at Rudding Park, Harrogate hosted by BBC Radio 2’s resident foodie, Nigel Barden.
The awards celebrate the elite of the region’s food and drink industry, showcasing fantastic local produce and commending the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals from Yorkshire and Humber.
Anna’s Happy Trotters won the prestigious deliciouslyorkshire Supreme Product award, sponsored by the Proudfoot Group, for its Pork Belly after beating off stiff competition from all award winners who were collectively pitched against one another to win this desired commendation on the night.
The deliciouslyorkshire Champion, sponsored by Rollits, was awarded to James Mackenzie, Chef and Proprietor at The Pipe & Glass Inn in Beverley, East Yorkshire. The judges considered James as someone who has gone above and beyond to promote and develop the region’s food and drink industry, infusing his passion and dedication, as well as influencing and inspiring staff and customers.
ProperMaid in Huddersfield picked up the deliciouslyorkshire Outstanding Newcomer award sponsored by Montpelier Professional Ltd.
Allison Whitmarsh from ProperMaid said ““We are pleased to win a deliciouslyorkshire award for the second year running. We have worked hard this year to grow as a business and we’ve made some fantastic in-roads so to be presented with this award is a great honour.”
deliciouslyorkshire’s chief executive, Jonathan Knight, commented: “A big congratulations to all of our winners and the shortlisted businesses for 2010. The standard of entries for the awards gets progressively higher year on year. It’s very encouraging to see businesses in the food, drink and hospitality sector going from strength to strength, especially in the current economic climate.
